Have you just had your phone upgraded?! Did someone special buy you one for Christmas?! If so, what are you doing with your old phone? You may not have a new phone but perhaps you have a very very old one hanging around in the back of a drawer somewhere...SEEDS is hoping that kind people such as yourselves will donate their old mobile phones to us so that we can keep our organisation running.
"Catchy name, but what does SEEDS actually do?" I hear you cry!
SEEDS stands for Survivors Empowering and Educating Domestic Abuse Services and is a means by which survivors have their voices heard by those planning and providing domestic abuse services.
As members of SEEDS groups, survivors are trained to:
- find out the views of other survivors (through research and focus groups):
- represent their views and experiences
- share these with staff working in the different domestic abuse services in order to increase their understanding of domestic violence and abuse.
- The overall aim is to improve services by learning from survivors experiences.
If you would like to read more about what we do, please visit our website and have a good nose around! http://www.seeds-uk.org/index.html
Currently we rely on funding of around £10,000 per year to stay operational, this year we have not received any funding at all and are at risk of not being able to continue. Any donation of any mobile phone is welcome.
COLLECTION POINT:
Currently we have a collection point at The Hive@Plymouth University Student Union which is located opposite the cash points on campus.
If you aren't able to find this collection point and would prefer to post or arrange an alternate method of donating any old mobile phones you have, please email seedsmobilecollection@gmail.com
